Ghost Story Summary

Andy, a girl with an infatuation for witchcraft, decided to use her Ouija Board for the first time in the woods. She summoned the ghost of a little girl called Laverne Chapman. After asking a few questions, she heard Laverne’s voice clearly in her ear. Andy ran into her house and her mother, who was secretly also a witch, told her how to get Laverne back into the spirit world. When Laverne went “back to the spirit world”, she haunted Andy and dragged her into the woods. Turns out, it was all a dream. However, when Andy went to the kitchen to get some water in the middle of the night, she heard Laverne in her ear. Her screams the last anyone had heard of Andy.

Reading and Writing Activity VIII

The part I found most suspenseful was when Malcolm was getting tied to the noose. The fact that he barely moved throughout the whole situation was very “stressful”. This is probably because most people choose “flight” in their fight or flight instinct. However, Malcolm didn’t choose fight or flight. He just stayed there. The judge was also very scary, mostly because we don’t really know what he looks like. At least I never caught on to the description or got an imaje of him. His rat, however, was the scariest for me. Personally, I would’ve left the house as soon as I saw that thing, but Malcolm didn’t, which adds to the scary element of the story.
